The laughing Kookaburra belongs to the Kingfisher family, which lives in Australia and New Guinea. It is a stocky greyish-brown bird with a barred back and a white head with brown streaks on the crown. Wings are light blue-brown. About 46 cm long, largest in its family. Feeds mainly on large insects, mice, small birds and small snakes. Female lays from 2-4 round white eggs in the nest, which is usually a hole in a tree.
